Role Overview: Sanctuary Computer is seeking a New York City-based Full-stack Developer to join their new development team. This is a foundational role within the NYC team-within-a-team, offering room to grow and mentor others. You will be working out of their co-working space, Index NYC.

Responsibilities:
- Building web and native applications.
- Collaborating effectively with design partners.
- Communicating directly with clients to align project scope with budget and timeline.
- Contributing broadly to garden3d’s culture.
- Being a key member in establishing the NYC development team.

Required Skills (Must Haves):
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React + Next.js, Vue, or Svelte) and a strong appreciation for TypeScript.
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Elixir Phoenix, or other backend technologies.
- Proficiency with SQL & database operations (experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or SQLite).
- Solid understanding of API Design, REST, and GraphQL principles.
- Experience with authentication strategies using JWTs and OAuth.
- Familiarity with PaaS providers such as Vercel, Render, Heroku, or Gigalixir.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Native app development experience using React Native / Expo.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools like Zenhub, Trello, or Jira.
- eCommerce experience, particularly with Shopify and/or Stripe.
- Contributions to open-source projects.

Location & Work Style: This is an ONSITE role based in New York City, working from the Index NYC co-working space in Chinatown. While the company supports remote work generally, this specific role requires being NYC-based.

Salary & Benefits: The estimated base salary range is $96,862 - $129,543.75 (targeting EML 3 through Senior 3 skill levels). This is supplemented by a profit-sharing program (average payout was $13,792 in 2024, but not guaranteed). Benefits include 100% employer-covered healthcare option, dental, vision, ~40 days paid time off annually (incl. PTO, sick leave, holidays, Freedom Fridays, winter closure), 4 months paid parental leave, optional 401k, potential for 4-day work week (at 80% salary/benefits).
