**Role Overview:** As a Staff Backend Engineer at Seeq, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction and architecture of our software platform. You will lead the design and development of complex software systems, working closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers. Your passion for crafting exceptional software will guide your work, focusing on elegance, extensibility, and maintainability.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead the design and development of backend services for our data analytics platform
- Build and maintain our backend infrastructure using Kotlin and Java
- Optimize database performance and data processing pipelines
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to define and implement APIs
- Mentor junior engineers and drive adoption of engineering best practices
- Advocate for system reliability, scalability, and performance
- Contribute to technical decisions that impact the scalability and reliability of our platform

**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience as a productive engineer with a track record of delivering innovative solutions
- Expertise in backend technologies including Kotlin, Java, and the JVM ecosystem
- Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on elegant solutions and debugging
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence
- Familiarity with search technologies (Elasticsearch, Mellisearch) is a bonus
- Familiarity with data analytics or industrial process data is a plus
