We started by creating comprehensive book guides that offer in-depth chapter-by-chapter summaries, original insights, and actionable takeaways. Our platform now extends beyond books to include summaries of articles, podcasts, videos, and research papers, aiming to index every meaningful idea on Earth and make sense of it. We were founded 6 years ago and have maintained profitability without taking on any external investment, allowing us to reinvest in growth. Our engineering team consists of 10 full-stack engineers, and we are expanding. We believe in empowering people to learn faster and level up their knowledge through our unique approach to summarization and idea organization.

About The Role: We are seeking a Full-stack Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in building and scaling our platform, which delivers supercharged summaries of complex ideas. You’ll work on the entire stack, from the user interface to the backend services, and you’ll have the opportunity to impact how people learn and engage with content. This is a remote position with a flexible schedule, though full-time roles are preferred.

What You’ll Do / Responsibilities: As a Full-stack Engineer at Shortform, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our core platform. This includes:

• Building and optimizing features that enhance user experience and engagement
• Collaborating with product and design teams to implement new ideas
• Ensuring the scalability and reliability of our infrastructure
• Working with our AI/ML team to improve content processing and recommendations
• Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across the stack

Required Skills and Qualifications: We’re looking for candidates with:

• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer
• Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js, Angular, or React
• Experience with Python and Flask for backend development
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and database design
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, particularly with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Compensation: The estimated pay range for this role is $120,000 - $200,000. We offer competitive salaries with no equity at this time, as we are a bootstrapped company reinvesting in growth. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and flexible work arrangements.
