About The Role:

As an Open Source Software Engineer at Stealth AI Startup, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI tooling. You’ll work on core features of our open-source library, improve developer experience, and collaborate with a global community of developers. This is a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects that influence how AI models are evaluated and deployed. You’ll be part of a small but rapidly growing team where your contributions will have a direct impact on the product’s direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain core features of our open-source library
  • Collaborate with the team to improve documentation and user experience
  • Contribute to the open-source community by engaging with users and incorporating feedback
  • Optimize code for performance and scalability
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and address technical challenges
  • Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions
  • Stay at the forefront of AI/ML evaluation techniques and incorporate new findings into the library
  • Ensure the library meets the needs of diverse users from startups to enterprise organizations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in open-source development, particularly with Python-based libraries
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML libraries
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-quality code
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and experience in maintaining open-source projects
  • Passion for open-source development and community building
  • Experience with testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices and design patterns
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) is a plus

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We’re looking for candidates who are not only technically skilled but also passionate about open-source and community-driven development. The ideal candidate should have:

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in Python
  • A strong foundation in computer science principles
  • Experience working on large-scale systems or distributed applications
  • Familiarity with modern web frameworks (Flask/Django/FastAPI) is a plus
  • Experience with database technologies (SQL/NoSQL) and API design
  • Excellent debugging skills and ability to analyze complex systems
  • Strong English communication skills for collaborating with global teams
  • A proactive approach to learning and staying updated with AI advancements
  • Experience mentoring or contributing to open-source projects

Compensation:
