**About Tandem Health:**

Tandem Health is building an AI clinician copilot to automate medical notes and reduce administrative burden for healthcare professionals, saving them 5-10 minutes per patient. Our product listens to patient-clinician encounters to generate medical records and is already used by over 500 care organizations across Europe. We prioritize security (GDPR compliant, EU data handling, no audio storage) and seamless integration with EHR systems. We are scaling rapidly in terms of users.

**The Role:**

Join our Stockholm team as a Senior Backend Engineer. We are specifically looking for experienced engineers who have a proven track record of helping startups scale their backend systems from thousands to millions of users. You will be a crucial part of evolving our Python backend, optimizing for performance and reliability, designing scalable architectures, and ensuring our infrastructure can handle significant growth.

**Responsibilities:**

*   Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services primarily in Python.
*   Lead architectural decisions for backend systems to support user growth and new features.
*   Optimize database queries, data models, and overall system performance.
*   Work extensively with our cloud infrastructure on Azure, particularly Kubernetes.
*   Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices within the backend team.
*   Collaborate with frontend, C#, and infrastructure engineers to deliver cohesive product features.
*   Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to scalability and reliability.
*   Drive initiatives to improve monitoring, alerting, and system resilience.

**Required Skills & Experience:**

*   Extensive experience in backend development, particularly with Python.
*   Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems, ideally in a startup environment handling rapid growth (thousands to millions of users).
*   Deep understanding of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL), including optimization and scaling strategies.
*   Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP relevant) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
*   Experience with microservices architecture, message queues, and caching strategies.
*   Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
