Tonbo IO is hiring a Database Engineer to join our core engineering team. We are a forward-thinking startup focused on edge-first data infrastructure, building innovative solutions for real-time analytics on Postgres. This role involves designing and developing our flagship open-source project, Tonbo, an embedded database using Apache Arrow technology, along with related components.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Tonbo, our open-source embedded key-value database
- Develop serverless, real-time analytics capabilities on top of Tonbo and object storage systems
- Optimize database performance and scalability for production workloads
- Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate database features into our product stack
- Profile and tune code for optimal performance using metrics and flamegraphs
- Contribute to our open-source projects and engage with the developer community

Required Skills:
- Proficient in Rust or C++ with experience writing high-performance code
- Strong understanding of system performance principles
- Ability to quickly estimate the performance implications of code decisions
- Expertise leveraging type systems for robust program architectures
- Experience profiling and optimizing code using various tools

Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with open-source database internals (e.g., RocksDB)
- Experience building or contributing to data-intensive systems
- Background in distributed systems or real-time processing
