Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About You

• Voracious learner – love diving into new areas and exploring new languages, databases, and technologies (especially AI frameworks and agent‑based architectures); can discuss API design one minute and reinforcement‑learning system constraints the next.
• Clear communicator – value documented planning, transparent feedback, and clear communication.
• Detail‑oriented – strong opinions on design patterns, IDEs, tabs vs. spaces, and care about the small things.
• Experienced with distributed systems – designed and built performant, scalable applications; expertise in API development, data modeling, optimizing database queries, and scaling distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead development of core systems, including real‑time job‑matching algorithms and autonomous worker‑vetting pipelines powered by ML and AI agents.
• Architect and document the tech platform and advise key product and infrastructure decisions.
• Implement CI/CD workflows using Docker and GitHub.
• Build analytics and monitoring to understand user experience and application health.
• Contribute in many ways to a scrappy founding team building the future of flexible light‑industrial staffing.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience with TypeScript/Node.js or Python, RabbitMQ or Kafka, and PostgreSQL or equivalent.
• Proven track record of shipping scalable distributed systems.
• Experience building APIs.
• Experience with Docker, GitHub Actions, and Datadog.
• Experience working in an early‑stage engineering team, navigating ambiguity, and being a self‑starter.
• Passion for helping people find meaningful work.
