Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable backend systems for our scientific computing platform
- Optimize performance of data-intensive applications used by scientists worldwide
- Collaborate with data scientists to build efficient APIs and data pipelines
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and other providers
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions
- Ensure system reliability and security for sensitive scientific data

Required Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in backend engineering
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for high-performance systems
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with database optimization (PostgreSQL, Redis)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
