Founding Full-stack Engineer (Engineer #2)

Vesto is building the financial control center for companies with multi-entity operations. We help businesses manage their complex financial structures, including numerous legal entities, bank accounts, and banking relationships. As companies expand globally, tracking financials becomes challenging—Vesto simplifies this by providing a unified platform for connecting, viewing, and controlling financial data. We're backed by top-tier investors including Contrary, SV Angel, Susa Ventures, and the founders of SoFi and Tinder. Our mission is to transform how businesses handle their financial operations through innovative technology and scalable infrastructure.

This role requires an exceptional engineer who will be instrumental in shaping our platform from the ground up. As one of the first hires, you'll have the opportunity to build foundational systems, mentor the growing team, and directly impact our product direction. We're looking for someone comfortable working across the stack, with a bias for shipping while maintaining architectural rigor.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build APIs and features from scratch
- Scale and improve our current systems for reliability and performance
- Ship production-ready code regularly while maintaining high standards
- Work closely with the CEO and other engineers to plan, iterate, and grow our product
- Contribute to architectural decisions that will shape our technical direction

Qualifications:
- Proven ability to design and implement complex systems
- Experience with backend development, preferably with Python/Django and Node.js (NestJS)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, databases, and API design
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
- Passion for building elegant solutions to challenging problems
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud infrastructure (AWS)

Nice-to-have:
- Experience with financial systems or domain knowledge
- Familiarity with frontend technologies (Next.js, TypeScript)
- Experience with financial APIs and integrations
- Contributions to open-source projects

This is a full-time, in-person position based in New York, though we're open to supporting distributed team members. We offer competitive compensation and equity in a rapidly growing startup.
