Role Description:
We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side infrastructure, APIs, and databases that underpin the Weave platform. You will work closely with frontend engineers, AI engineers, and product managers to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code and services.
- Develop and manage scalable databases and data storage solutions.
- Build and maintain robust APIs for frontend applications and integrations.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of backend systems.
- Implement security and data protection measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards and practices.

Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, developing complex web applications or SaaS products.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Java, Ruby).
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and potentially NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs or GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of software development best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and version control (Git).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Experience or interest in AI/ML or the biotech/pharma industry is a plus.
