About The Role: We are seeking a Product Engineer to join our team in building the next-generation user interface for people who care about writing. This role involves building web user interfaces using React/Next.js and TypeScript, contributing to our real-time collaborative backend, defining and delivering features end-to-end, and being part of the early founding team to guide our products and company.
Responsibilities:
- Build web user interfaces using React/Next.js and TypeScript
- Contribute to our real-time collaborative backend (Cloudflare Workers, TypeScript, CRDTs, PostgreSQL)
- Define, architect, implement, and deliver features end-to-end, from conception to production
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to create intuitive user experiences
- Test and debug applications to ensure high quality and reliability
- Stay up-to-date with the latest web technologies and best practices
Requirements:
- Proven experience building products for the web using React
- Familiarity with TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Understanding of collaborative real-time technologies (CRDTs, Y.js)
- User-focused product mindset with good design sensibilities
- Interest in generative AI technologies and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with building advanced Rich Text Editing interfaces (ProseMirror, Tiptap)
- Experience with collaborative real-time technologies (CRDTs, Y.js, sync engines)
- Experience building production-grade local-first or offline-first applications
- Experience using LLMs in production, especially multi-agentic systems
- Strong interest in writing (fiction, non-fiction, essays)
Compensation: The estimated pay range for this role is £100,000 - £170,000, plus equity.
Location: Onsite/Hybrid in London, UK
