Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer and sports enthusiast to join our on-site team in Zurich, Switzerland. This is a hands-on, high impact role where you will be instrumental in building and scaling our backend infrastructure that powers our AI-driven sports analytics platform. You will work closely with our product, data science, and frontend teams to develop robust, scalable backend systems that handle large volumes of sports data and provide real-time insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance backend services using TypeScript and Python
• Develop and optimize APIs that serve data to our React-based frontend applications and mobile clients
• Work extensively with PostgreSQL databases to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing
• Collaborate with our machine learning team to integrate AI models and enable data-driven insights
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS and SST (Serverless Stack Toolkit)
• Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture discussions
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security of our backend services
• Contribute to the overall technical strategy and best practices within the engineering team
• Mentor junior developers and share knowledge to foster a collaborative engineering culture
• Work closely with product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience as a Senior Backend Developer with a strong background in TypeScript and Python
• Deep understanding of backend architectures, RESTful API design, and microservices patterns
• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases including query optimization, indexing, and database design
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and serverless technologies
• Familiarity with SST (Serverless Stack Toolkit) for building scalable backend applications
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Passion for sports and technology, with a genuine interest in how AI can transform the sports industry
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Experience with modern development practices including CI/CD, testing frameworks, and DevOps concepts

Our technology stack includes TypeScript for web development, Python for machine learning components, PostgreSQL for data storage, React with TanStack for frontend applications, AWS for cloud infrastructure, and SST for serverless application deployment.
