Friendly Captcha is a German company that provides privacy-friendly and accessible anti-bot solutions. We protect websites and online services from spam and abuse with a privacy-compliant alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. Our solution is based on proof-of-work mechanisms and advanced risk signals, making it completely invisible to users. Unlike traditional CAPTCHAs that require users to perform tedious tasks like clicking images of cars, our system works automatically in the background, checking users’ devices without any interaction needed.

We are a fully bootstrapped, profitable company founded in 2020, operating as a mission-driven business first and a startup second. Our vision is to create a safer internet that is accessible to all humans. We prioritize sustainability with a healthy work-life balance and design our company to be around in 5 years. Our team is fully remote across Europe, and we meet up in person a few times per year. We’re trusted by leading organizations including Porsche, Auth0, SAP, and Red Cross.

Our stack includes Go, TypeScript, Clickhouse, Postgres, Redis, and Python data science tools. We operate with an entirely EU-owned infrastructure stack (no AWS), which is particularly appealing to governments and EU-based companies. We emphasize simplicity in our approach, preferring if/else rules over complex neural networks when possible. Our engineering philosophy focuses on building a great product rather than engineering for engineering’s sake.
