Meedan

Meedan is a global nonprofit dedicated to building open-source digital tools and community-led programs that enhance the accessibility, reliability, and distribution of information. Our mission is to empower communities worldwide by providing reliable information when and where it’s needed most. We achieve this by developing innovative technologies that address information inequity, particularly in regions with limited internet access or where misinformation poses a significant threat.

Our work focuses on creating tools that not only deliver information but also foster safer, more inclusive, and equitable online ecosystems. We collaborate with local communities and organizations to ensure our solutions are culturally relevant and sustainable. We codesign hyperlocal programs that respond to global information challenges, enabling communities to take control of their information needs.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on donations and grants to sustain our operations and expand our reach. We believe that equitable access to information is a fundamental right and that technology should serve all communities, regardless of their location, language, or income.
