Railway is building a platform to make deploying software simple, aiming to eliminate the complexity of infrastructure management like Kubernetes and YAML configurations. Their mission is to make software engineers higher leverage by providing powerful tools that simplify deployment and infrastructure orchestration. They build infrastructure primitives (network, storage, runtime) and user-facing tools loved by hundreds of thousands of users, tackling complex problems like home-rolled hypervisors, container orchestration, overlay networks, and custom edge proxies. They are moving towards building their own physical infrastructure in datacenters globally to offer better performance, pricing, and reliability than traditional cloud providers.
